*roar!* - hrmmm, im downloading stuff at 120k/sec! damn thats cool... Ive never gotten download speeds like that before...

Did some sitting around today, watched 'the patriot' again, i dont mind it.

I want ADSL at home.... *sigh*

26.4.02

hrmmm, Im sitting at uni, using uni bandwidth very resourcefully *does that make sense?*... I was trying to find PhotoShop 7, after hebba got it im a bit jealous *grins*.. anyway i did some searching but all the places i found where downloading at a crappy 7k/s... bleh...

I did manage to get Apple Remote Desktop, which im going to have a play with...

I realised that i can wriggle my nose a lot... with my face muscles... *grrr - tough*

*yawn* - oh!, did more work on SportsDraw app, and its sweeeeet!... The first 'release' is going to be a bit cut down, i wanna get something out there, but ive designed the classes so it is totally upgradable with minimum fuss. I have about 7/8 classes, but the first version will only use about 1/2 of those classes. I figure its good to plan ahead.. :)

Im still searching endlessly for the new SilverChair album... *grrrrr*, ill find it or buy it, one of the 2...

hrmmm hrmmm ok... im going for a drive with a mate at the uni here...

Damn blogger gives me the shits... I had a big blog written that showed up as being published on web, but it wasnt, so i go to publish it again and the damn thing vanishes... *sigh*

Screw this... bleh...
At work again, sitting... I have a ftp site with photoshop 7 for OS X on it, so i just need to hook up a fast net connection to leech it. Listening to a bit of eve6, i need to find more of their songs... i need faster net access period... i have a list of stuff to do when i get a better connection, damn thats sad...

I went to go to a movie yesterday, but the place had a lineup out the door, so i cancelled that idea. I went back home and sat in my place, stuffing around and reading some stuff. I had a good think about my sportsdraw program and my design so far is flawless (ha ha, yeah right), nah i mean it looks good, ive created all the class files, and the class definitions have been created and im adding to them as i go. So far its looking good. The UI is kinda dodgy, but it gives me somplace to start.

I got some assignmetn marking work from the uni here, some introductory computing class, which will be neat... about 60 hours, and the pay is around $23 /hour .. which rocks!!..

bleh bleh bleh.... things are good...

Just got back from the dawn ceremony, and thought id blog it...

I was totally amazed at the number of people that turned up. If there was one person for every car then there would of had to of been thousands there, but im guessing that there were probably more then one person per car, so you do the math. Cars were parked for about 4-5 blocks away from the botanical gardens. I took a punt and drove in and just parked on the side of the road. When i got to the war memorial, there were lots and lots of people already there, i couldnt get anywhere near the memorial, and had to stand a long way back and just look at the top of it and listen.

Its amazing how many people turned out, theres noway you can tell me that Anzac day is getting smaller, as far as im concerned it is still alive and will be for as long as i can imagine. People from all ages/races/backgrounds all standing there. An eriy silence fell over everyone when the last post was played and everyone just stood there, except for a homeless dog which im guessing lived at the gardens and was just totally stocked about having so many people there... he was running around with that cheesy panty grin that dogs do. Anyway, it was worth getting out of bed early to go and see. I stayed long enough to hear the bugle and have a little ponder then i left before the crowds all moved away and the streets got hectic. I left as they were laying the flowers and stuff down, but i figure i dont need to be there for that.

I look forward to many more Anzac day dawn ceremonies, and i imagine the day when im standing there with my kids, everyone quiet just thinking about it. Its the 87th (i think - from memory) anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli, time flies, but also some things stay the same...

*puffs out chest* - damn im proud to be Australian!...
They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary then, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
Lest We Forget.

What is ANZAC Day?

24.4.02

yay!, another day of work.... Its a public day here tomorrow for Anzac day. I think ill go to the dawn ceremony, i havnt been to one since i was really young, actually i cant remember ever going to one... maybe i havnt been to one before... hrmmmm anyway, im going. Its at around 4:30am tomorrow morning at the botanical gardens here, should be good. Ive got a big respect for the whole 'war' thing, its interesting and somthing that doesnt seem real, but of course it really happened..

Got a call from my manager/boss/higher up dude yesterday and the project is was going onto next has been delayed a bit cause the manger up from him isnt happy with the way it was done, i.e. the way that a price was given before we even knew what was going on, anyway, apparently a full requirements doco is going to be done and then a price done off that, which i think is a totally good idea.

I went for another run last night, its neat at around 11pm, quiet, light breeze blowing, excellent temerature. of course i nearlly died again, but ya get that when your a lazy bum like me... i swear my heart is trying to kick me in the nuts, just for making it work so hard all of a sudden :)

Cocoa has come to a bit of a standstill at the moment, ive got the book here, but ive just been doing other things. Ill get back into it tomorrow i think. Spend the day doing cocoa and watching all the Anzac day shows.

hrmmm, well im off to get a drink, its 9am, and im a bit thirsty..

This dude has the right idea for sure!!! he is in Australia at the moment.

Still reading "Unearthly Disclosure", got a few pages to go. Its a rad book, very thought provoking... Ive been eating some Anzac biscuits i bought on the weekend as well, i forgot how good they are.

Ive been playing around with VB, trying to get it to display html files and stuff... its working now, but was a bit dodgy... I dont like VB that much.

hrmmmm, ooo!, gotta get another anzac biscuit!!

22.4.02

Starting ripping my cds to mp3 today, i figure ill listen to them more if they are on my ibook, which is cool. Ripped all my older cds, a few aussie bands and stuff, just generally good music...

Got a call today from a bloke i know, asking me if i wanted to mark some assignments for a uni subject he is lecturing. Of course i said yes, so ive got around 60 hours of marking to do, getting about $20 an hour :) *ching ching ching - money signs in his eyes*, he also gave me a number of another bloke at the uni who is looking for a lecturer for a subject next semester, so ill give him a call... keep my options open. I could handle being a lecturer for a while :)

Bought "Gallipoli" by Les Carlyon today, and "Unearthly Disclosure" by Timothy Good also caught my eye so i got it as well. Im about half way through the second one. Gallipoli is a bit bigger, around 600 pages, so im leaving it till last. The Timothy Good one is kinda cool, ive got a few of his other books, hes a big UFO writer, and im a sucker for the whole UFO / conspiracy / cover up dealio.. :)

The red apple cravings have dropped a bit, but im into grapes now.... oooo guess what i did tonight! drum roll please *brrr brrr brrr brrrr*, i went for a run/walk! *listens for people fainting from shock*, yup.. 10 minutes run down the highway here and back via another road... damn its peaceful and nice at nighttime, i thought there would be more bugs but there wasnt, goo weather for sitting on the mailbox... mmm, anyway.. the run almost killed my lazy arse, but im ok now... i think ill go more often...

mmm, anyhoo.... im going to eat some graphes and read some more.... :)
Was looking at the schoolfriends page, and noticed that there arnt that many people on there that i went to school with, sure theres lots i know from other years, but theres not many from my classes... another thing i noticed is that msot of the people on there are married and/or have kids now... damn i feel old... Just got me wondering what everyone is doing... ive tried searching on the web for people i went to school with, but it usually turns up with nothing.. oh well...

I watched sixty minutes last night, and they showed Ray Martin over at Gallipoli, talking about Anzac day that is on thursday.. They were talking to a dude that wrote a book about it, and i think ill buy it. I started thinking about Australian history, and really not a lot of it is taught at school. I dunno why that is, but its a shame. So i think ill buy the book and read up on gallipoli and stuff... cant hurt...

mmm, oh well...

Was reading hebbas blog, and read her links to the apple student forum thing, where the word "goddammit" was deemed offensive, yet the person who found it offensive used "bloody" in the very next sentence. Just makes me laugh... I mean theres noway on the internet you can define what words are 'unappropriate', especially with the mix of people, races, backgrounds. Reminds me of a few months back in Australia when there was a TV word that used the word "bugger". To me the word "bugger" isnt bad, it kinda means damn, or shit or crikey.. i.e somthing bad happens, you would say bugger... But if you look it up in a dictionary, bugger actually means to sodomise or sodomy... form dictionary.com sodomy means "Any of various forms of sexual intercourse held to be unnatural or abnormal, especially anal intercourse or bestiality." *laughing*... so of course there was some big media issues about using the word bugger, and in the end nothing happened and all us aussies still say 'bugger" when somthing dodgy happens...
bleh... its silly...
damn i love being an aussie - we have cool slang words....

yay!!
For all those avid blog watchers i have out there... i just added a few more piccies to my webpage...

bleh...
